Trach Musings

This week is rather exciting.  It could be the last full week that Lily has her trach.  That sounds so calm in bloggerville.....just to cooly write those words.  In reality, I am jumping up and down, praying out loud, “Oh, Please Lord....please, please, please???!!??” I am not sure how next week will turn out.  She goes in for a bronchoscopy next Wednesday, and then we’ll see how it all shakes out at that point.  If everything looks good on the bronch, then they will put her in ICU, cap her trach overnight, and if that goes well.....they’ll take the trach out the next day.  At that point, she needs to stay another few days possibly to see how she does without her trach.  I am almost out of breath now.....just trying to stay in the moment....knowing that this could downward spiral at any moment.  I could sound all noble and holy here and tell you I want God’s Will...and I really do want that...seriously.  BUT.....I really, really want her trach out.  Next week.  Please God.

PS--I could be buying turtlenecks for her next week!!!! Lily has never worn turtlenecks.....I think a few Christmas ones would be in order to celebrate.

Another One Bites the Dust

Sorry, deer.....you all should know better than to step out in front of an SUV going 50 MPH.  Really.  I see you left a little love on the left side there.....ugh.
Thanks be to God my husband is okay after his first tango with a deer.  There have been a few fatalities in recent weeks with other deer accidents.
Fortunately, we can limp through this week without a second car, and address the whole rental thing next week.  I have no idea how long it takes to fix a car.  This is the nicest one we have ever owned.....dang.  Jim was able to drive it home, but then all of the radiator fluid leaked out, and it will have to be towed now.

On a happier note....Miss Regina is home from the hospital. God is good!! Thanks for all of your prayers.

Watch out for deer, they seem rather clueless.

Thank You!

Regina, the thirteen year old girl I mentioned in my last post is doing much better.  From the family:

We cannot thank you all enough for your support and prayers!!!   Praise be to God, Regina is continuing to improve.  She has been off the ventilator for nearly 12 hours now, the feeding tube has been removed and tests for liver and kidney function are still consistently improving.  She even ate a little cereal this morning!  If things continue to go well today, she’ll be out of the ICU and into a “regular” hospital room tomorrow.  We can’t believe how far she has come in just a few days.  She’s still mostly “out of it” as the sedatives wear off, but her vitals are good and she’s been talking some.  (What a releif it is ot get to talk to her again!)

God is good!!!

Please Pray!!

A sweet family we know from back in Indy have a very big crisis on their hands.  Their thirteen year old daughter, who is one of a set of triplets, is critically ill.  Regina is in ICU, on a vent, in septic shock, with some organs having shut down.  She apparently had flu like symptoms that turned very scary, very quickly.   Regina’s family is a large, homeschooling family......very faithful and devout.  Please, pray a Rosary and offer up Mass for this dear family.  I am so sad that they have to go through so much.

Thank you!

Seriously, there is so much eye candy here...and some very easy looking crafts for the Christmas season.  I have several I want to dive in to at some point.  Do kids really HAVE to eat every day and wear clean clothes??? I know, I know.....

Food Allergies

Oh, these videos offer a glimpse into our life......most everyone thinks that having a little with a trach is our big deal.  It is....but we have just as big of a deal with food allergies.

Pray for a cure!!!  This is so difficult, but there is so much hope that one day my kids can leave the home without worrying.....worrying about touching milk in a pew in church that dripped out of a baby bottle, which could cause my kids’ face to swell if they touch it and then their face......worrying about touching grocery carts that may have dairy or peanuts on them......afraid to play at playgrounds if there are others eating there.....asking me a zillion times if “this food is okay”........even though I have checked the label, a zillion times.

I don’t ask for pity.....just understanding that food allergies can really be that bad.....and we need a cure.

The End.
